Week 2's (1/22) class

Today’s class was very fun even though a couple of presenters were cutting in and out while presenting. I like the idea of group discussion and presentation to other group. We’re divided into small groups and each group was assigned a topic to discuss. We had to recall what we learnt from the weekly readings in short time and discussed it with our group members. In addition, we combined and condensed our reflections or thoughts, and posted it in 15 minutes. It was much fun despite the fact that it made me a little nervous.

It is a pity that this class is not taught face-to-face but I do enjoy listening to everyone’s English speech with colorful accents. I strain my ears to listen to the class. It is just something I haven't done much before.

  1. Your post reminds me of the importance of the visual mode and how research shows that being able to see and hear a speaker helps with ESL learner comprehension. We could do that in our synchronous chat but that would just strain the bandwidth too much.

  2. A technical question, if all of us use camara at the same time, will we have more internet cut-outs during the process?

  3. That's a good question. But I have no idea. Let's try and we'll see ~*

  4. It was me cutting out!!! :( So sorry. I'll log in on my desktop computer next week; I think the connection will be stronger even though it also uses my wireless router. Hopefully that will solve the problem. :)

I also enjoy hearing everyone's varieties of English. I also love Dr. Smidt's voice. She sounds very precise, considerate, and cute because of her accent. Oops... I guess that's probably unfair to make assumptions, even if the assumptions are nice! I just like different voices, I guess. :)
